イヤーカフの裏話

ウェブショップにイヤーカフが入荷しました！

最初は、イヤーカフではなく
イヤリングかピアスにするつもりで制作を始めました。

大切に保管していたドイツのヴィンテージガラスを主役に
ビジューのように並べて、
ひとつのモチーフとして完成させるつもりでしたが

作りながらふと違和感が出てきて
「これは違うかもしれない」と手が止まりました。

そこから、ガラスを並べて、
ただ色合わせをして楽しんで遊んでいたのです。

この色とこの色が合う、
この並びは気持ちいい、
そういう感覚だけで並べていたときに

このまま線として見せた方が、
このガラスたちがより美しく見えるのではないか、と思ったのです。

そこからイヤーカフという形に辿り着きました。

ただ、既存のパーツでは
この並びの美しさをそのまま活かせるものがなく
結局、土台から自分で作ることにしました。

ワイヤーで形を起こして、
長さやカーブを何度も調整して、
耳の上でも下でも成立するバランスを探していく。

石座を接着するのではなく、
細いワイヤーで一つひとつ固定していく作業は、
とても繊細で手間をかけたものでしたが、それも楽しい時間でした。

今回のイヤーカフは、
前から見たときの印象はもちろんなのですが、

横から、そして後ろから見たときの美しさも大切にしています。

それぞれのガラスの組み合わせに合わせて、
土台の裏側に入れているラメの色もすべて変えていて、

さらに、雫型のクリスタルガラスの裏面にも
それぞれ異なる表情を持たせています。

普段はあまり見えない部分ですが、
その色やきらめきが前に覗くことで、

正面から見たときの印象に
奥行きとニュアンスが生まれるようにしています。

形としても、
耳の上にも下にもつけられて、

さらにチャームも取り外せる。

ここまで自由度があるイヤーカフは、
既製のものではなかなか見かけないと思います。

作家としてのイチオシは①のネオン
作りながら、「私が欲しい、、、！！」何度そう思ったことか。
手元にあったヴィンテージガラスを全て使い切っても
1点物になってしまったカラーもあります。

少量の制作になったため
私物を作るのを諦めかけたとき、1点のみ作品としては使えない質の
ガラスがあったため②のロマンスが私の手元にあります。

The ear cuffs are now available in my web shop.

Originally, I started making these not as ear cuffs, but as earrings or pierced earrings.

I planned to feature some carefully kept German vintage glass,
arranging them like bijoux and completing them as a single motif.

However, as I was working, I suddenly felt something was off, and my hands stopped.
I thought, “This might not be it.”

From there, I began simply arranging the glass pieces, playing with color combinations.

This color works with that one,
this arrangement feels right—
I was guided purely by that sense.

And then I realized,
maybe these glass pieces would look more beautiful if I let them remain as a line.

That’s how I arrived at the form of an ear cuff.

However, none of the existing parts could preserve the beauty of that arrangement,
so I decided to build the base from scratch.

Shaping it with wire,
adjusting the length and curves over and over,
searching for a balance that works both on the upper and lower part of the ear.

Instead of gluing the stones,
I fixed each one carefully with fine wire.
It was far more delicate than I had imagined,
but also a very enjoyable process.

With this ear cuff, of course the front view matters,
but I also placed great importance on how it looks from the side and from the back.

To match each glass combination,
I changed the glitter color on the back of the base individually.

In addition, even the back of the teardrop-shaped crystal glass
has its own unique expression.

These are details you don’t usually notice,
but when a hint of that color or sparkle peeks through to the front,
it adds depth and nuance to the overall impression.

In terms of form,
it can be worn both on the upper and lower part of the ear,
and the charm is removable.

An ear cuff with this level of versatility
is quite rare among ready-made pieces.

As a creator, my personal favorite is No.1 “Neon.”
While making it, I kept thinking, “I want this for myself…!”

Some colors ended up as one-of-a-kind pieces,
as I used up all the vintage glass I had on hand.

Because the production quantity is limited,
I almost gave up on making one for myself.
But I happened to have one piece of glass that wasn’t suitable for sale,
so I kept No.2 “Romance” for myself.
